September 11 Prayer Service

On September 11, the students and families of Holy Cross honored and prayed with our local police officers, firefighters, emergency paramedics, and their support personnel. The prayer service, led by our Student Council, concluded with a blessing of the emergency workers and their vehicles by Father Mark. During the service, student councilors presented our guests platters of the most amazing cookies given by our students and their families.

This tradition was started by alumna Riley Sisk, now a freshman at UC Berkeley, and her fellow Student Councilors in 2001 as a way of remembering all the victims of 9/11 and to say “thank you” to our local emergency workers, those “who walk into buildings as others leave them.”
